Can I amend / add / correct / delete creditors after I file for bankruptcy?
02 January 2015

Generally, yes. Typically, all schedules (documents that are filed with the court that list your creditors) can be amended/corrected after filing for bankruptcy and prior to your discharge. It is crucial that making amendments/corrections occur as soon as possible after filing. Creditors to be added must also be notified. Corrected schedules should be filed with the court, appointed trustee, and any other relevant party. Note: Only debts that existed prior to the filing of the bankruptcy petition can be added in order to obtain a discharge for such debt.

The process to amend/correct schedules is tethered with deadlines and legalities that only an experienced bankruptcy attorney should handle. Please contact our office to schedule to obtain the experienced assistance of attorney, Gregory E. Nassar.
